This will depend on where you’re keeping your Spectrio Engage player – for example, it could be mounted behind the screen or away from the screen in a server room or cabinet. The first thing you’ll need to consider is whether you’re mounting the Spectrio Engage player with the screen and connecting the two directly, or if you’re going to house the Spectrio Engage player in a secure area and connect the cabling over a distance.
Mounting with the screen
Doing this is very simple. All you need to do is connect a small HDMI cable to the Spectrio Engage player (or adapter if miniDisplayPort to HDMI adapter is present and needed) on one end and the screen on the other. Once connected, power on the Spectrio Engage player. It will detect the screen connected and launch normally.
Housing in a server room or cabinet
This is the most common setup for digital signage. Typically you will run the cabling from the server room to your screen using HDMI extenders over Cat5. This means that you’re going to need to connect one HDMI cable to the Spectrio Engage player on one end and one of the HDMI extenders nearby. HDMI extenders come in a pair – a transmitter located near the Spectrio Engage player, and a receiver located near the screen, which will be labeled as such. Connect the Spectrio Engage player to the transmitter with one HDMI cable, and then connect a Cat5 or Cat6 cable from the transmitter to your network switch in the port matching the corresponding port located near your screen. At the other end, run another Cat5 or Cat6 cable out from the port in the wall and into the HDMI receiver. Now you’re ready to convert the signal back to HDMI by connecting a second HDMI cable to the receiver on one end and the screen input on the other. Once all cables are connected and the HDMI extender set is powered on (connect the power brick to the transmitter), power on the Spectrio Engage player. It will detect the screen connected and launch normally.
