Push notifications in the Share app give you a great new way to communicate with your residents. When a resident has the Share app installed, they can receive notifications for activity reminders, personal calendar appointments, and any time they receive a new message in the Share app.
Opting in to Receive Notifications
When a resident logs into the Share app using a QR Code, the app will ask if they would like to turn on push notifications.
If they decide not to opt into push notifications, they can always turn them on in the future from the Settings area of the app. We recommend that you encourage residents to opt in to push notifications - they are a great way to stay updated on what's happening in the community!
How Push Notifications Appear on the Device
When a push notification is sent, it will appear on the device in a few different ways, so your residents will stay informed regardless of how they are using their device when the notification arrives. Notifications can be seen while doing other things on the device, in the device's Notification Center, and while using the Share app.
Tapping on the notification brings the resident into the Share app to the appropriate screen where they can view more information.
Types of Push Notifications
When a resident has push notifications enabled, they will receive notifications for all of the following things:
- Activity Reminders - If the resident is selected as a recipient or is part of a community selected as a recipient of the reminder, they will receive a push notification at the designated reminder time.
- Calendar Appointments - This can be set using the Remind Me option on personal calendar appointments.
- New messages - Any new message the resident receives at their Share email will result in a push notification. Staff can send messages to an entire community, allowing all app users to be notified immediately.
