Installing and Configuring the Softplayer
- STEP 1: Configure the PC for Softplayer
- Press [WINDOWS + R] to bring up the Run dialog boxType cmd and press EnterType ewfmgr c: -Disable and press EnterThis step is necessary to account for Windows Embedded devices- EWF Manager needs to be disabled before proceeding. On most PC’s this step will simply result in an error.Type exit and press Enter
- STEP 2: Install Softplayer
- Open a web browser.
- Navigate to http://go.industryweapon.com/pcplayer Save PCPlayer-latest.exe when prompted.
- If prompted, run PCPlayer-latest.exe
- If you’re not prompted, press [WINDOWS + R], type shell:downloads and press Enter.Double-click PCPlayer-latest.exe
- Follow the prompts on screen to install the application
- When prompted, choose to restart the computer
- The device will boot up directly into the IWPlayer application – note the IP address being displayed in the bottom-left corner of the screen
- STEP 3: Configure the Player in CommandCenterHD
- Log in to CommandCenterHD; ensure that there is a channel with active content in the correct resolution that’s ready to be scheduled to the device before proceedingFrom the dashboard, hover your mouse over the “Wrench” icon in the top-right corner of the screen and click DevicesClick + next to “Digital Signage Players”In the Player Model dropdown, choose Spectrio Softplayer-WindowsFollow the remaining prompts to complete the authorization process and then click Save PlayerAllow 15 – 20 minutes for the player to sync
Uninstalling the Softplayer
- STEP 1: Disable Watchdog and Close Softplayer
- Press [CTRL + ALT + DELETE] and open the Task Manager
- Windows 10: Click on the Details tab, scroll down to php.exe, right-click it and click End Task
- Windows 7, Windows 8: Click on Processes, scroll down to php.exe, right click it and click End Task
- There may be more than one instance of php.exe running- you must end all of them to proceed
- Close the Task ManagerPress [ALT + F4] to close Softplayer- you’ll now be at the desktop for the PC
- STEP 2: Uninstall Softplayer and its Associated Applications
- Press [WINDOWS + R] to bring up the Run dialog boxEnter control appwiz.cpl and press EnterRight-click on IWPlayer and click UninstallRight-click on Chromium and click UninstallRight-click on VLC media player and click UninstallRight-click on the Recycle Bin and click Empty Recycle Bin
- STEP 3: Remove Extant Program Files
- Press [WINDOWS + R] to bring up the Run dialog boxEnter explorer.exe c: and press EnterRight click the folder Industry Weapon and click DeleteDouble-click Program Files (x86)Right-click the folder Chromium and click DeleteTake a moment to search “Program Files” and “Program Files (x86)” for any further instances of “Industry Weapon,” “Chromium” or “VLC” and delete any that you find.Right-click on the Recycle Bin and click Empty Recycle Bin
- STEP 4: Remove Extant Application Data
- Press [WINDOWS + R] to bring up the Run dialog boxEnter shell:appdata and press EnterIn the file path at the top of the File Explorer window, click AppDataOpen LocalSearch for any instance of “Industry Weapon,” “Chromium,” and “VLC;” right click and Delete themRight-click on the Recycle Bin and click Empty Recycle Bin
- STEP 5: Reboot the DeviceWhen the device has finished rebooting, take a moment to ensure that it does not boot into the IWPlayer app, and that you don’t see any lingering shortcuts for Chromium or VLC
