Playlists App - Tutorial
Intro to Playlists
In this article, we will review the Playlists App within the Apps section in CommandCenterHD (CCHD).
Playlists allow you to schedule multiple Channels to send to any number of Devices. In most situations, a Channel will work for standard playback; however, if you're looking to create a playlist of multiple channels, each scheduled to play during their own time slot, Playlists is the perfect option to use.
Accessing Bulk Manager
1. On the Navigation Bar at the top of CCHD, click Apps.
2. In the Apps section, use the Search Bar to find Playlists.
3. Select the Playlists App.
Creating a Playlist
1. On the Playlist Manager page, click the Add Playlist button.
2. In the window that populates, complete the following fields:
- Playlist Name - Enter a unique name for your Playlist.
- Playlist Format - Choose the orientation for the content in the Playlist: Horizontal or Vertical.
- Master Channel - Choose the main Channel that will play when no other Channels are scheduled for playback in the Playlist.
3. When finished, click Add Devices and Channels to save the information.
Adding/Editing Additional Channels to a Playlist
When adding additional Channels to the Playlist, keep in mind that the added Channels will override the Master Channel during the set Days and Times that the added Channel is set for. When there are gaps in playback between any additional Channels in the Playlist, the Master Channel will run in playback.
1. In the Playlist App, click on the Add more Channels to your Playlist link.
2. In the window that populates, complete the following fields:
- Channel Dropdown - Choose a Channel to add to the Playlist
- Start - Choose the Start Time for the content in playback.
- End - Choose the End Time for the content in playback.
- Advanced Settings
- Inclusive Dates - If you would like to choose a specific date range for the content to be in playback, check the Inclusive Dates checkbox, and choose a From (Start Date) and To (End Date)
- All Days - When the All Days box is checked, the content will play every day (or if there is an Inclusive Date range, every day between those dates). If you uncheck the All Days box, you can choose specific days during the week which the content will run.
3. Once finished with the settings, click Add Channel to add the channel to the Playlist.
Adding a Playlist to a Device
On the left side of the page, select the Device(s) to schedule the Playlist to by checking the box to the left of the Device name.
Once finished, click Save Playlist to send the changes to the Device(s).
NOTE: Your Playlist will now run the selected Channel on all devices that you have assigned to it. At any time, you can re-designate a device to another Playlist or remove it from a playlist entirely. When removed from a Playlist, the device will revert back to playing the last Channel that was assigned to it.
Once the playlist has been applied the normal download time will apply before you’ll see your new playlist shown in playback.
